At the 9th Plenary Session of the Bali Provincial Legislative Council for the Second Session of the 2024-2025 Term, Bali Governor Wayan Koster firmly stated the government’s commitment to accelerating the transition to low-emission transportation in Bali. One of the key points discussed in his speech was the acceleration of the use of battery-powered electric vehicles and the integration of land, sea, and air infrastructure. This aligns with the vision of making Bali an environmentally conscious province and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly in the areas of clean energy and climate change mitigation.

Legal Basis: Circular Letter from the Governor of Bali

Circular Letter No. 8 of 2023 has been issued regarding the Reduction of Carbon Emissions through the Use of Environmentally Friendly Transportation Every Friday for Employees in the Bali Provincial Government. This policy is one of the concrete steps toward transforming Bali into a low-emission vehicle destination. The circular instructs all government employees to use environmentally friendly transportation, such as electric vehicles or bicycles, every Friday as a commitment to gradually reduce carbon emissions.

Electric Vehicle Trends: From Local to International Markets

The transition to electric vehicles in Bali is no longer just a concept. Various electric vehicle products, both domestic and foreign, are now increasingly populating the market. From electric motorcycles to cars with the latest battery technology, the people of Bali now have a wide range of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient options.

One concrete example of this application can be seen in the electric motorcycle trial conducted by UPTD Denpasar in collaboration with local dealers. This activity shows that electric vehicles are no longer just a concept for the future, but have become part of everyday life for the people of Bali.

Another effort involves 142 United T1800 electric motorcycles for the Denpasar City Government. This is a major step toward realizing a sustainable future for Denpasar, in line with efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality. The presence of these electric motorcycles not only supports energy efficiency, but also demonstrates that the adoption of electric vehicles has entered a more serious and massive phase at the local government level.
