In Klungkung, Regent I Nyoman Suwirta admitted that for the first time in his eight-year tenure, he rode a motorcycle to the office. This was after participating in an Electric Battery-Based Motor Vehicle Test Ride in front of the Puputan Klungkung Monument on Friday. Accompanied by the Head of the Klungkung District Transportation Department, I Nyoman Sucitra, and the General Manager of PT. Sentrik Persada Nusantara, I Gede Pasek Wijaya, Regent Suwirta warmly welcomed the use of electric vehicles, including bicycles and scooters.

The initiative is not just about complying with Presidential or Bali Governor regulations. The primary focus is on environmental awareness, especially since the Earth is currently experiencing significant pollution due to the use of fossil fuels. “One of the country’s objectives, besides efficiency, is undoubtedly to avoid pollution. We must gradually change our mindset that our planet needs to be saved, and efficiency must be implemented, making electric vehicles a choice for all of us,” expressed Regent Suwirta.

Furthermore, Regent Suwirta shared his pleasant experience riding the electric motorcycle around Semarapura City. “I was challenged by the electric vehicle, so I had to try it. After trying, I found it comfortable, vibration-free, lightweight, and truly exceptional. I hope that these electric vehicles can genuinely offer a positive solution to prevent air pollution,” he added.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of PT. Sentrik Persada Nusantara, I Gede Pasek Wijaya, mentioned that their company is an electric vehicle distributor in Bali with its main showroom located at Jl. Gatot Subroto Barat No. 500, Denpasar. They support the government’s program in line with the Presidential Regulation No. 55 of 2019 on the acceleration of battery electric vehicle programs for road transportation and the Bali Governor Regulation No. 48 of 2019 on the use of battery-based electric motor vehicles.

Their commitment to supporting the government’s program includes collaborations with various factories to introduce different electric vehicle variants, offering electric motorcycles that meet technical standards and are roadworthy, and ensuring after-sales service by providing spare parts and home service. They have also partnered with BPD Bali Bank for financing to cooperatives and collaborated with Jamkrida Bali for electric vehicle loan guarantees.

“Through this commitment, we hope to support and synergize in realizing the government’s program implementation, accelerating the battery-based electric motor vehicle program for road transportation, especially in Klungkung District,” he stated.

Previously, on May 3rd, Regent I Nyoman Suwirta also signed a cooperation agreement (MoU) between Klungkung Regency and RSU Grha Bhakti Medika regarding Emergency Referral Services utilizing Sea Ambulances to serve patient referrals from Nusa Penida to mainland Klungkung. “We hope that this health facility can provide the best service to the community and complete and perfect the services for the people in Nusa Penida,” he said, accompanied by several officials.
