The Regent of Klungkung, I Nyoman Suwirta, recently revealed that he rode a motorcycle for the first time in eight years since taking office. He shared this during the launch of the Test Ride for Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles in front of the Puputan Klungkung Monument on Friday, May 7th. The event was attended by the Head of the Klungkung District Transportation Department, I Nyoman Sucitra, and other regional organization officials.

On this occasion, Regent Suwirta expressed his strong support for the adoption of electric vehicles, including bicycles and scooters. He emphasized that the initiative should not just be about adhering to presidential or gubernatorial regulations but should primarily focus on environmental awareness. Given the significant pollution caused by fossil fuels, it’s crucial to shift towards cleaner alternatives.

“One of the main objectives of this national initiative, besides efficiency, is to prevent pollution. We must gradually change our mindset to prioritize the preservation of our planet. Electric vehicles should become a choice for all of us,” stated Regent Suwirta.

Furthermore, after touring Semarapura City on the electric motorcycle, Regent Suwirta shared his delightful experience. “I was intrigued by the electric vehicle, so I decided to give it a try. The ride was smooth, vibration-free, lightweight, and overall impressive. I genuinely hope that electric vehicles can play a significant role in combating air pollution,” he added.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of PT. Sentrik Persada Nusantara, I Gede Pasek Wijaya, mentioned that their company is a distributor of electric vehicles in Bali. They have a central showroom located in Denpasar. PT. Sentrik Persada Nusantara supports the government’s program, in line with the Presidential Regulation No. 55 of 2019 regarding the acceleration of battery-based electric motor vehicles for road transportation and the Bali Governor Regulation No. 48 of 2019 on the use of battery-based electric motor vehicles.

Their commitment to supporting the government’s program includes collaborations with various factories to introduce different electric vehicle variants, offering electric motorcycles that meet technical standards, and ensuring after-sales service by providing spare parts and home service.

“We hope to support and synergize in realizing the government’s program, especially in the Klungkung District, by accelerating the adoption of battery-based electric motor vehicles for road transportation,”
